The Westerham Valley Railway Society
About the Society
Following the closure of the much loved branch from Dunton Green to Westerham in 1961, and the brave attempts to re-open the line by the original Westerham Valley Railway society, which we have recreated, we hope to keep it’s memory alive for future generations .
Each station has its own page and other pages are devoted to the lines historically past.
Like all volunteer run societies we are always in need new members as well as funds
If you would like to support us or get further information please use the contact us page.
Meetings are held in the Kent area, as well as track walks
Update February 2026
Sadly, the last remaining remnants of the railway architecture, including Southern Railway fencing and coal staves, have now been destroyed.
The Society had plans to errect a information point on the site together with a small museum.
The site owner purchased the land on the 10th June 2024. and stated the site was to be used for a vintage car restoration business.
A Note on Copyright
The photographs on this site come from various private collections and the former British Railways Board archives and are Used with permission. The colour photographs were donated by a member, who obtained them from an auction site. The Westerham Valley Railway Society takes copyrights very seriously and would never intentionally infringe copyrights,we will immediately credit the copyright holders if so informed of any infringement.

Highly recommend reading for anyone interested in the WVR.
This book by the late Ron Strutt,to whom’s memory this site is dedicated tells the sad story of the end of the line, with many revelations and political pressures at the time. We occasionally have copies of this book for sale.
