The Westerham Valley Railway Association
About the Association
Following the closure of the much loved branch from Dunton Green to Westerham in 1961, and the brave attempts to re-open the line by the original Westerham Valley Railway Association which we have recreated, we hope to keep it’s memory alive for future generations .
Each station has its own page and other pages are devoted to the lines historically past.
Like all volunteer run societies we are always in need new members as well as funds
We will publish a newsletter “The Flyer” in its original format.
If you would like to support us or get further information please use the contact us page.
Meetings are held in the Kent area, as well as track walks
Can you help?
Were you, or do you know anyone who was a member of the original society? We are also looking for any photo’s or documents relating to the Original Society/association. We would be very grateful for any help. Please use the contact us page if you can assist. Thank you.
Update August 2026
At a extraordinary committee meeting held in July, on the request of a member and donor it was agreed by resolution that the association, would act as the lead organisation in an attempt to secure the future of the Pullman car Malaga currently at the former Ian Allen offices at Sheperton Station. A copy of the resolution is available on request.
A listing application has been submitted to Historic England as a first step.

Update July 2026
We are pleased to say that membership is growing, with the addition of members of the original association. We are pleased to offer honorary membership to former assosiation members.
We are in the process of applying to the Charity Commission for charitable status, which will be of assistance to us and our future projects.
Although not strictly Westerham, we have applied to Historic England to obtain listed status for the 12 wheel Pullman car “Malaga” at the former Ian Allen offices at Sheperton. This historic vehicle is in danger of being broken up. We have a potential donor who is interested in saving it.Please contact us if you would be interested in this project.
Sadly the planning inspector found in favour of Gypsy/Travellers camp at the Brasted site, but we understand the local residents are continuing to fight the decision .
The latest Flyer news letter is in the process of being produced in it’s original format and should be ready soon.

Our Facebook Page

Highly recommend reading for anyone interested in the WVR.
This book by the late Ron Strutt,to whom’s memory this site is dedicated tells the sad story of the end of the line, with many revelations and political pressures at the time. We occasionally have copies of this book for sale.
